Warhol - White Burning Car Crash #3
from his Death and Disaster series
My second to last exam is tomorrow. My last critique is tomorrow. ALMOST DONE WITH COLLEGE!
Can I just take Art History classes forever? How does auditing work? Cause I’d totally do it. Or maybe I will just go get my Masters in it. WHO KNOWS? NOT ME! Not yet, anyways. This whole graduating from college thing is starting to freak me out.

On account of the fact I haven’t done my homework yet and school starts back tomorrow, I should get on top of that, right? Butttt I’m currently watching this. Or, I’m about to start it.
I meant to watch it a while ago. So, this is being productive as far as I’m concerned right now…
Plus, this photograph is beautiful and is the first reason I wanted to watch it. They had to have drawn inspiration from this painting of Shakespeare’s character, Ophelia, from Hamlet, that was done by John Everett Millais. It’s the first thing I thought of when I saw it.

So, I switched Art History classes into a Modern American Art History class. With my favorite ARTH professor. Super stoked on it.
And I think I’ve fallen in love with Edward Hopper’s work. Not that I hadn’t seen it. Everyone’s seen it (Nighthawks.) But I love the loneliness in them. And the city life.
Especially with this painting. I can already relate to it. While I’m excited about my future and moving, this will be the other side. Timid and lonely.
PS: I applied for graduation today. Whaaaat?!
January 19th with 16 notes | reblogAll through high school, I was one of the few people who were pretty dead set on their career choice. Mine was going to be Graphic Design.
Then ‘ole Photography came along and stole my heart and soul.
Then magazines came along and stole what was left.
So, for the past couple years, I’ve been set on working in magazines and hopefully become Photo Editor at a pretty awesome one some day, and doing my own photo stuff on the side.
THENNNN
Portfolio reviews came along. One of my reviewers was a lady who works at the Museum of Art here in Columbia. She said with my editing experience and my minor in Art History, a curatorial career could be a good option for me. NEVER REALLY THOUGHT OF THAT! But I liked the idea.
I didn’t apply to grad schools this go-around, because the ones I really want to go to ARE SO DAMN EXPENSIVE. I can’t possibly afford to go to one of them AND live in NYC at the same time. Just not happening right now.
Well, Now I’m thinking about going to grad school for Art History. Columbia University or Corcoran Collage of Art and Design are currently my top picks, but my chances are probably slim. Columbia has ties with big museums in NYC and Corcoran has ties with big museums in DC. While NYC is where I want to move ASAP, I think DC could be a good idea. I have family there, so I could probably live with them, acquire an internship, and go to school.
So basically! I want to be a gallery or museum curator and do photo work on the side. And maybe one day far, far away, be a professor. Maybe even get my PhD. Dr. Kobos sounds pretty legit, right?
I DON’T KNOW
THE FUTURE IS SO SCARY
AND SO CLOSE!!!!!!!!

JUST GONNA SAY SORRY FOR GROSSIN’ YOU OUT
We watched this in one of my art history classes. The professor wasn’t there that day and the T.A. FORGOT TO WARN US ABOUT THIS and I hadn’t seen it, so I had no idea. And obviously at first it didn’t hit me that it was just a dead pig’s eye. The whole class just gasped.
It’s on Netflix if you want to watch it. A silent film called Un Chien Andalou by Salvador Dali and Luis Brunel.
Those surrealists were some metaphorical, weird ass folks.
